From Fields to Feast: The Journey of Our Rice in Mathura 🌾

Location: Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
🗓 Season: Kharif (Monsoon Rice Crop)
🌱 1. Preparing the Land
With the arrival of the monsoon in Mathura, we begin by ploughing and leveling the fields. Paddy needs standing water, so bunds are built to retain rainwater. In just a few days, the fields transform into shimmering water beds — ready to give life.
🌾 2. Transplanting the Seedlings
We raise paddy seedlings in a nursery for about 25 days. Once they’re strong enough, we transplant them into the water-filled fields by hand — a traditional method that requires dedication, rhythm, and deep connection with the land.
🌿 3. Nurturing the Crop
Over the next 60–90 days, the plants grow tall and green. We carefully manage water levels, enrich the soil with compost, and use natural pest repellents. Our commitment to sustainable farming ensures minimal chemical use and maximum soil health.
🌾 4. Harvesting Time
Come October, the green fields turn golden. It’s time to harvest. Using a mix of hand tools and machines, we cut and gather the crop, sun-dry it, and separate the grain from the stalks. The scent of fresh-cut paddy signals a season’s worth of hard work.
🏭 5. Milling the Paddy
The dried paddy is taken to a local rice mill, where it’s dehusked, cleaned, and polished using minimal processing. What returns is aromatic, high-quality rice, naturally grown and deeply satisfying.
